Hallelujah! what a Savior!
Hallelujah! what a Friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving,
He is with me to the end.
So I was quite happy to come across verse 17 today. There are times when I love to just sit back and meditate in the fact that Jesus is my friend.
Friendships can be difficult. Mostly because they involve people. People can fail you, people can disappoint you, people can hurt you and people can grow apart.
But not God. He is the one Friend who will never fail you, never disappoint you and never hurt you.
We can do all those things to God though. Our friendship with God can be so skewed. He is nothing but good and we are the ones who fail Him, disappoint Him. But He never lessens His love for us based on those things. He loves us regardless.
That is a true friend. A friend worth keeping. He is a friend that loveth at all times and sticketh closer than a brother.
I am going to bed tonight, filled with happiness that I have the best friend imaginable. Thank you, Lord, for being my friend.

ReplyDeleteSince I have a great brother, I decided to not comment on that portion of the verse. :)
ReplyDeleteAdversity means a state of retchidness or misfortune, poverty , trouble. I remember times like that with my brother on an ocasion or two. Wether lost or saved, we have sibling rivalry problems at times, it mostly is caused by growing up. Some siblings never get together after growing up together.. I think it is to learn how not to treat others and how to act ourselves. Also how to forgive and truely love others. In Proverbs 17, brother is mentioned in 17:17 18:9 18:19 18:24 The book of Proverbs as we talked about earlier has a bad-good poetry to it , how a verse says one thing and then changes it around like you mentioned a few chapters ago. We are Christians so wo are not at adversity with our brothers or we are not supposed to be. Mathew 10:34-36 and Luke 14:26 , Jesus wants us tove each other, not hate but the comparison is to be to love Jesus so much more than others in comparison.
ReplyDeleteAs in day 15, the hole in the wall towards your brothers room, it was a time of adversity but God sure used it for good if you love your brother so much. God knew how you would react to get to love your brother the way you do. God is sooo goood to us. Amen.
